My name is Lorraine Grigor, the 4th child of Donald Grigor posted above. I lived in Kilcreggan until I was 17 with my siblings Donna, Maggie, Sharon and Donald Andrew. Andrew lives in between Glasgow and Edinburgh, Donna is in Edinburgh, Sharon is in Glasgow and Maggie moved to Dallas, Texas. Frank was my uncle and was married to my auntie Jean. Uncle Bob (Robert) is posted above, and as said before died in the fire, his daughter Barbara was married to Henry and they never had any children. Uncle Jimmy is not in the picture and he was married to Mary, who had Joyce and Mari. I had three children in Helensburgh, and then moved to Canada in 2002. I'd love to keep in touch, swap pictures, stories with family members I have not seen in years or quite remember. Please feel free to contact.  |

I have been doing the family tree and only started out with my dad and his 2 sister and one brother ,we never knew our grandparents only that their names where Ebenezer Shearer kirkpatrick and margaret gribble,I have now gone back as far as 4 generations with john kirkpatrick and jessie sutherland as Ebenezers parents,I have a lot of info of jessies grand children and G/grandchilden and a photo of some of the grandchildren,it was hard to find out when i got started ,but doing well now ,regards sandra

My 5X great grandfather Alexander Sutherland b. bef 1758 Lerwick married Margaret Scott 18 Sept 1779. Their grandson George Sutherland b 19 Apr 1811, Dunrossness and his wife Margaret Jane Smith
b. circa 1813 Delting migrated with their family to New Zealand on the 'Wild Deer' in 1873.
George Sutherland died in 1885 in Dunedin, New Zealand. I am descended from their daughter Grace Eliza Sutherland b. 1841 Lerwick, who married James Malcolm (Malcolmson- he changed his name while in Edinburgh), on 14. Feb 1866 Edinburgh, who also migrated on the 'Wild Deer', with their family. Thus 3 generations migrated at the same time.

So glad I found this site. I am searching my Sutherlands from Walls & Flotta. William Abt. 171 married Marion Cromerty in 1737. Their son Henry 1754, married Osla Ballantine, their son John 1788, married Katharine Dunnet, their daughter Jean/Jane married Zachary Young.
I would love to confirm that I have these right...and I would like to know where the wives came from. Also, searching for info on the Young family. I am wondering if anyone knows how the Youngs showed up in the Orkneys? I would love to know what some of these ancestors did for a living etc. I am also intriqued by the families with the same name...I am assuming they are all related to each other!
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
