John is the great grandfather of the husband of my great grand aunt!! Now thats a mouthful 
I have John's parents as Donald Sutherland and Barbara Isbister although an Ann keeps coming into the mix, so not sure if I have my facts correct, has anyone else come across him. To explain my connection further, my great grand aunt was Elizabeth Hunter 1868 - 1902 from Leith, she married Charles Sutherland 1870 - 1893 in Leith. Charles's parents were John Sutherland 1844-1916 and Margaret Laird 1843-1930, John's parents were John Sutherland 1820-1855 and Ann Gow 1819-1885. This John's parents were John Sutherland 1779-1864 and Betsy Rorie/Roary 1791-1878. I look forward to swapping info with anyone, cheers
