Really I'm just looking for some people related to someone in my tree.
I have a Niel Sutherland, born c.1782 in Latheron, Caithness. Parents were William Sutherland & Ann Sutherland (MS Sutherland), who were married 2 Jan 1778. As far as I know, Neil was the eldest of William and Ann's children; they had 5 altogether: Neil, Esther, Emelia, Marjorie and Frances. Neil died 20 Jan 1865 of old age, age 84.
Neil married Janet Bain, 17 Dec 1802 in Latheron. They had at least five children (possibly more, but I can't be sure as only the father is mentioned on most of the baptizm registers): Angus, Mary, Janet, Donald and Esther. Janet Bain must've died c.1824, as Neil married Janet Campbell in 1825. Neil and his second wife had at least three children, again possibly more: Ann, Alexander and William.

Angus was born c.1803 in Dunbeath and married Janet Gow 19 Dec 1833, Latheron. They had no children that I'm aware of. Janet died 8 Nov 1841, and Angus remarried, this time to another Janet, with the surname Sutherland, 14 Apr 1843 in Latheron. They had two children: William and Janet. Angus died 31 Oct 1888 in Berridale. Janet (second wife) died 17 Nov 1900 in Achnacrag, Berriedale.
Donald Sutherland was born Sep 1816 in Balnabruich, Dunbeath. He married Emelia Dunnet. Donald died 5 May 1883 in Knockally age 68. Emelia Dunnet died 29 Dec 1876 in Knockally.
Mary Sutherland was born Feb 1817 in Latheron, and married James Mowat 2 Nov 1838 in Bower. They had eight children: Donald (died young, I assume), Janet, Catherine, Neil, William, Jane, Margaret and Donald Alexander. Mary died 27 Jan 1899 in Barniekirk(?), Halkirk pf senile debility.
Janet Sutherland was born Dec 1818 in Latheron, and died 25 Apr 1898 in Knockally, Dunbeath. She was unmarried, but she does appear to have a son with the name Donald Bruce.
Esther Sutherland was born Jul 1824 in Latheron. She married William Bain 27 Dec 1850 in Latheron and had three children: Donald, Alexander and Margaret. She married again on 13 Jul 1877 in Bruan to a James Sutherland. Esther died 10 Mar 1900 in ??Hill, Smerlie, Lybster.
Children of Niel Sutherland and Janet Campbell:
I don't know when Ann Sutherland was born, but if her age on her death certificate is correct, she was born c.1816, which would make her Janet Bain's daughter and not Janet Campbell's. But it says Janet Campbell is her mother on the death certificate, so I supposethe informant (Ann's daughter) always thought of Janet Campbell as her granny, even if she wasn't blood related? If that makes sense! Anyway, Ann Sutherland married Charles Mackay 20 Dec 1839 in Latheron. They had at least six children: William, Angus, Jessie, Mary Ann, Charles and Margaret. She died 9 May 1905 in Knockally.
Alexander Sutherland was born 27 Jan 1838 in Latheron and was a butler. He was unmarried and died 2 Oct 1877 in Knockally.
William Sutherland was born 2 Sep 1840 in Latheron and died 6 Jan 1869 in Glasgow. He seems to be unmarried at least.
Children of Angus Sutherland and Janet Sutherland (MS Sutherland):
William Sutherland was born c.1845 in Ausdale, Berriedale. He married Elizabeth Mowat 21 Jan 1875 in Ausdale. He moved to Fife in search of work, I assume, as he worked as a Master Saddler in Markinch, Fife for the rest of his life. William and Elizabeth had seven children: John Angus, Mary A, Janet, Magnus Mowat, William, Walter Benjamin, and James Neil. He died 22 Aug 1923 in Markinch.
Janet "Jessie" Sutherland was born c.1853 in Badbea. She married Charles Anderson 14 Mar 1874 in Dundee. She moved to Fife perhaps with her older brother William, as they both stayed in St Andrews for a time. Janet and Charles had four children, all born in St Andrews: Janet, Christina Wilson, Elspeth Louden, and Charles. Janet died 5 Aug 1916 in St Andrews.

John Angus Sutherland, born 10 Dec 1875 in St Andrews. He was a Master Saddler like his father. He married Helen Mary Kinnes 14 Sep 1908 in Markinch. They had two children: Christina Myrtle and William Neil Kinnes. John Angus died 4 Jun 1963 in Markinch.
Mary A Sutherland was born 24 May 1877 in St Andrews and died in 1958 in Markinch. She was unmarried.
Janet Sutherland was born 23 Jan 1979 in Markinch and married Peter Ramsay 1 Jun 1904 in Markinch. They had two children: Elizabeth Mowat and Helen Wilkie. Janet died of cancer 24 Oct 1916 in Dunfermline.
Magnus Mowat Sutherland was born 6 Nov 1881 in Markinch. He married Ada Maud Maltby, I think in Torquay in England. They had one son: Walter Magnus Mowat Sutherland. Magnus died in 1957 in Markinch.
William "Bill" Sutherland was born 20 Feb 1883 in Markinch. He was a saddler. Bill never married but had two illigitimate children, whose mother committed suicide in 1927. One of the two illigitimate children is still alive, so I won't go into detail.
Walter Benjamin Sutherland was born 25 Sep 1887 in Markinch and died in Leslie, Fife, 13 May 1918 of TB. He was unmarried as far as I'm aware, but he did apparently spend a lot of time in Michigan, USA, so who knows what havoc he played over there?
James Neil Sutherland was born 21 Jul 1892 in Markinch and died, unmarried, in Blangy, France, 9 Apr 1917, in the trenches.

Christina Myrtle Sutherland was born 29 Aug 1913 in Markinch. She's still alive, living in London, where she moved before WW2. She's very frail now but still sounds and acts just like a Sutherland! She married Charles Sydney Sampson 29 Dec 1940 in London. They had two children: Helen Myrtle and John Charles.
William Neil Kinnes Sutherland was born 27 Oct 1918 in Markinch. He was an electronic engineer in the local Tullis Russell papermill. He married Agnes Grace Sanderson Small 19 Feb 1946 in Thornton, Fife. They had two children: Marlene and James Neil. He died 24 Jun 1992 from complications of cancer. He was my granddad.

Marlene Sutherland was born 26 Feb 1952 in Edinburgh. She married James Gibson in 1977 and had one daughter: Nicola.
James Neil Sutherland was born in St Andrews, Fife 16 May 1958. He was an electronic engineer like his father. He and his partner, Alexandra Dorans, had two children: Ross Neil (b 1 Apr 1984) and Bryce Ian (b. 18 Mar 1986).
